Winter 2024
Hi everyone:
It has been a very busy Winter for Protect Todos Santos with, as you will see, some very important developments.
Dune Protection Signs
We are having 11 high-quality metal full-color dune protection signs created that will be installed next to the dunes in Las Tunas, San Sebastian and La Cachora areas. These signs will be educational focusing on the importance of dunes and how they are protected by our PDU and federal environmental protection laws.
Aquifer Monitoring Equipment and Updated Website Water Page
We have invested $4,500 in equipment that will enable us to perform the hydrological monitoring of the Todos Santos aquifer recommended by Dr. William Sanford in the report he prepared for us. The monitoring of aquifer levels, saltwater intrusion, and aquifer recharge data will be collected by our Water Committee members and posted on our website.
We have also posted the new aquifer extraction data along with conservation measures we should all be implementing to prevent our water crisis from getting worse. We hope you will read it and share the information with your friends.

The Proposed La Paz PDU – A Developer Dream and Our Worst Nightmare
Our number one priority right now is to stop the proposed unsustainable PDU La Paz has created to replace our existing sustainable PDU. It is not an overstatement to say if it is enacted the La Paz version will forever change the Todos Santos region.
Population Increase: Their PDU would increase the population size from 25,000 (as currently stated in our PDU) to over 150,000, about the population of San Jose del Cabo.
Condos Everywhere: Their PDU would allow multi-family homes to be built in every zone, so we would become a mix of single-family homes and condos, much like Cerritos Beach.
Here is a link to information on the proposed PDU:
https://www.protecttodossantos.org/the-proposed-new-pdu
There you will find the significant changes being proposed to each zone and a zone map so you can see how the rules would impact your neighborhood.
These are dramatic changes so what we do over the next few months will be the most important in our communities’ history and if we are successful as Winston Churchill once said, “this will be our finest hour.”
Here is how we are fighting back:
A 2-Month PR Campaign called En Defensa de Todos Santos was just launched. Below are links to the campaign’s Facebook and Instagram pages. Indigo Productions will be posting information on the proposed PDU along with video interviews with local community members that will be in Spanish with English subtitles discussing the problems the proposed PDU will create. The campaign will also include press releases to local media.
You can all help by Liking, Sharing, and Posting Comments on the Facebook page regarding how you feel about the proposed PDU.

And you can Follow and Comment on the Instagram page.
It might be a good idea to use Google Translate to type your comments in English and post them in Spanish because that is the audience the campaign is targeting.

Here’s Our Plan:
A lawsuit has already been filed by John Moreno challenging the creation process of the proposed PDU that lacked the required community participation.
Letters are being sent to government officials urging them to reject the plan or allow community revisions.
A lawsuit challenging its legality will be filed if the proposed PDU is enacted because it violates over 21 Articles of General Law of Human Settlements and Urban Development, the federal law that governs the creation of urban development plans in Mexico.
We should all remember Tres Santos
The movie trailer below is a reminder of how Todos Santos residents led by John Moreno fought to stop the Tres Santos Development. We hope it inspires all of you to participate in the battle ahead to protect this beautiful place we all love and call home.
Muchas Gracias,
The Team at Protect Todos Santos
